OVERVIEW
My current employer invited a yoga instructor to our facility to give us a free yoga class! I was thrilled, but scared, because I haven't practiced yoga for many months! When I do get to practice yoga, it is relaxing and invigorating at the same time. During the free yoga class, the instructor challenged us to do a pose sequence that was tougher than the rest of the poses he had been instructing us to do. He told us that if we were successful at doing the pose sequence, we will be rewarded with a free one-month subscription to his yoga gym. Guess what? Uh huh. I was successful at completing the challenge, and painfully sore for the next few days.
With that said, I was excited to activate my free membership, but I realized before doing so that I did not know in great detail all the styles of yoga classes that I can choose from. I have heard of many forms, like vinyasa flow and hot yoga, but have never officially gone to an arranged yoga class. For my yoga routine, I search the term "yoga" on YouTube and practice yoga from the comfort of my home through a video. This experience has made me wonder how many other people are unaware of the many yoga classes that they can choose from. It can't just be me, right?
I pictured an eLearning experience on a touch-screen device in the entrance of a yoga facility that people can utilize to view detailed descriptions of the yoga classes offered there. This would help them familiarize themselves with different styles of yoga classes provided at the facility before deciding to join a class. This strategy would increase the number of paid practitioners at the yoga center.
For added access, there would be a QR code somewhere next to the touch-screen device, as well as on the yoga center's website, so that people would be able to view the eLearning experience on their phone.
PROCESS
I used Articulate Rise 360 to develop this eLearning experience. I chose this tool because Rise 360 allows me to create design that is clean and professional looking with minimum effort. Also, since this eLearning experience will be displayed on a touch-screen device and phone screens, Rise 360 automatically adapts to any device. My goal was to create an eLearning experience that was simple to use for the learners and pleasing to the eye. After experimenting with different layouts in Rise 360, I produced a polished project. If later down the line the yoga center needs to revise the eLearning experience, I can redesign the project to meet their needs.
